Scenes on the Via Crucis, I knew I had to surrender to Jesus. “lead them to Christ.” Well, I just took my family.

In 2004 I was just minding my ownīusiness being a devout evangelical protestant(having left Catholicismģ1 years earlier to become a “born-again” Christian.) Our pastor bought aįull theater full of tickets to the Passion so we could take others to The movie is rated R and for good reason.I fall on the side of those who would encourage others to watch it. A simple VeggieTales video should do for now. They will soon know and learn what the Lord went through to die for our sins. Please, please, please don’t let your kids watch The Passion of the Christ. If you haven’t, I’m sure a simple search will satisfy your quest to find out how much of an impact this has had over the years (can you believe it’s been 9 years?)

If you’ve seen it, then you know what I’m talking about. The pain and affliction that was portrayed in the film is so overpowering that even my mom had to look away several times.īut this movie? Oh man. So with this movie, I feel like now we really know what he went through. I believe teens should know what it’s really like when men and women go to war and know that it’s not all video-game friendly. I’m talking about older teens and adults here, not kids. I am a huge military movie buff and I believe my kids (when age appropriate) need to see first-hand what soldiers experience when they go to war. Was the violence necessary? Well, I don’t know how to answer this question. I cried (well, more like sobbed) during the movie and for days I had the images of the whipping, crucifixion and the gut-wrenching scene of Mary, the mother of Jesus, running to him while falling on the Via Dolorosa. As a christian woman, I felt a lot of conviction when I watched the movie. I have the DVD and I’ve never brought myself to watch it at home. I watched the movie twice in the movie theater, the week it opened. Is there a lot of violence in the movie? Yes, there is. My 14 year old son is old enough to watch and understand the sentiments and violence that surrounds the events in the movie.

There is no way that I would let my 7 and 6 year old watch the movie. Watching The Passion of the Christ is not one them. There are plenty of videos for kids to watch and learnabout the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. But it’s Easter and I want them to see the true meaning of Easter and the resurrection!
